Abstract

This paper briefly introduces the current situation and trend for the development of contemporary geographic information technology. It discusses some aspects in the geographic information acquisition and processing, geospatial data management, geographic information appplication service, geographic information sharing technology and new types of GIS such as Web GIS, COM GIS, 3D GIS and mobile GIS.
