Abstract

The development of all kinds of DNA markers and relative biotechnologies provide a foundation to establish a highly density linkage map as well as a feasibility to discover quantitative trait loci (QTL)In the paper the world-known resource families of chicken, different techniques of genotyping and strategies for mapping QTL are reviewed, and the current status for QTL mapping in poultry are also briefly discussed.
