Abstract
The braking distance limit is the basis of designing the train(including locomotive and rolling stock) braking system,as well as the basis to arrange signal device and determine the length of blocking section. The performance of the braking system determines the braking capacity of train. The permissible wheel-rail adhesion limit, the ultimate braking power of wheels and brake shoes restrict the braking capacity. The braking distance limit, the railway passing capacity and the several aspects above interact as both cause and effect, affect mutually and restrict mutually.
