Abstract

Based on the monthly precipitation data of flood season(from June to September),the features of flood season in the north part of Ningxia were analyzed by means of wavelet analysis techniques and accumulated anomaly analysis.A prediction model was developed and the prediction experiment of flood season precipitation in the north part of Ningxia was conducted with the mean generating function. The results indicated that flood season precipitation in north part of Ningxia its inter-annual variation was remarkable with varying periods of 6 and 9 years in recent 49 years. The result showed that the mean generating function has good prediction capability for short-range climate changes especially for extreme precipitation events.
