Abstract

Objectives To research the effects of hydroxy safflor yellow A on vascular cell adhesion molecules.Methods Adhesion effects of hydroxy safflor yellow A on umbilical vein endothelial cells was investigated by MTS assay..Expressions of intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1),vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1) were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),.reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RTPCR) and Western blotting.Results Hydroxy safflor yellow A could inhibit adhesion between endothelial cells and U937 cells.Hydroxy safflor yellow A could inhibit expressions of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 at gene and protein levels.Conclusions Hydroxy safflor yellow A could inhibit adhesion between endothelial and leucocyte cells by inhibiting expressions of adhesion molecules ICAM-1 and VCAM-1,thus preventing vein endothelial cells from oxidative damage.
