Abstract
Objective:To study the age-related incidence, location, histological classification, complication, and pathogenesis of uterine leiomymas. Methods:Histological classification according to WHO new classification method was performed with the uterine biopsy and pathological study. Results:The age-related incidence was 40-50 year old mostly. The masses were seen intra-smooth muscle mostly, but sub-serosa and sub-mucus membrane rarely. There were three classes:leiomyomas in 479 cases(97%),sarcoma in 2 cases(1%),and uncertain potential malignancy in 5 cases(2%).The complication included overproliferation of uterine intima, adenomyoma, ovarian cyst, uterine intima polup, ovarian hydrops, teratoma, and granular cell neoplasm. Conclusions:These complications confirms that the pathogenesis of uterine leiomyomas is associated with the elevation of estrogen level.
