Application of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing in chemotherapy for children with leukemia

Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effectiveness of TCM nursing in chemotherapy for children with leukemia.Methods Sixty children with leukemia received chemotherapy in our hospital from June 2010 to June 2012 were selected as study objects and rendered TCM nursing such as moxibustion,acupuncture,acupoint injection,acupoint applying of traditional Chinese drugs,acupoint injection on the ear,clyster of traditional Chinese drugs,immersing wash and hydropathic compress with traditional Chinese drugs.Results The life quality and complication of all sixty children with leukemia were significantly improved through TCM treatment corresponding with different adverse reactions and combined with TCM nursing during chemotherapy.Conclusion TCM nursing technique has significantly improved series of adverse reactions of chemotherapy for children with leukemia,also improved their quality of life,effectively controlled infection,bleeding,and anemia during chemotherapy,greatly increased the working initiative and creativity of nurses,reflected the value of nursing staff in clinical work,and is worth widely clinical applying.
