Abstract
Objective To compare the efficacy and security of Citalopram and Amitriptyline in the treatment of post-stroke depression. Methods 69 patients with post-stroke depression were randomly divided into two groups, which were received Citalopram or Amitriptyline for 8 weeks respectively. And the curative effect and side reaction were evaluated with Hamilton Depression Rating Scales(HAMD),Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS)respectively before and after the treatment in 1st,2nd,4th and 8th weekend. Results The scores of HAMD decreased markedly after the treatment than those before the treatment in two groups, the scores of HAMD of the Citalopram group decreased more markedly than those of the Amitriptyline group after the treatment in 1st weekend. The scores of MMSE of the Citalopram group increased significantly after the treatment in 2nd weekend and promoted significantly than those of the Amitriptyline group after the treatment in 4th weekend. The scores of TESS was less and slighter in Citalopram group than that in Amitriptyline group. Conclusion Comparing with Amitriptyline,The efficacy of Citalopram is safe, quickly onset and less side reaction in the treatment of the patients with post-stroke depressions.
