Follow-up on the 45 cases of the indeterminate-result of HIV antibody

Objective To explore the character of the indeterminate-result of HIV antibody by western blot(WB),the discrepancy and the improvement of examining HIV antibody by WB.Methods 1,the feature of the distribution of the population,2,the feature of the band examination,3,the follow-up of the indeterminate-result of HIV antibody,4,and the transformation of the HIV antibody.Results Most of the indeterminate-result of the HIV antibody occurred in the common population,the reexamination for this group was very difficult,therefore,the reexamination rate was rather low.Furthermore,there existed false positive in HIV antibody tested by WB,and mostly was found in the band P24.Conclusion The indeterminate-result of HIV antibody was related with the false positive in HIV antibody tested by western blot. Effective measures should be taken to reduce the number of the indeterminate-result of HIV antibody,and proper explanation. should be provided..
