Abstract

Objective To explore the latest prevalence of drug-resistant pediatric tuberculosis and find basis for prevention,control and treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis.Method Cases diagnosed as pediatric tuberculosis were collected from Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University,Chongqing from June 2006 to June 2009.Proportion method was used to test the drug susceptibility to streptomycin(SM),isoniazide(INH),rifampicin(RFP),ethambutol(EMB) and pyrazinamide(PZA).Result 139 cases were identified as Mycobacterium tuberculosis positive.The total rates of drug resistance and multi-drug resistance were respectively 20.86% and 6.47%.The drug-resistance rates to SM,INH,RFP,EMB and PZA were 12.23%,10.79%,8.63%,2.88% and 2.88%,respectively.Conclusion The rate of drug/multi-drug resistance of pediatric tuberculosis in Chongqing is lower than the average of whole nation.The factors include pediatric tuberculosis patients from city area and retreatment may promote the occurrence of drug resistant tuberculosis.
