Abstract
Ventilated induction motors are widely used as the traction motors on railway vehicles.However,they require overhauls for internal cleaning,especially for 100% low floor light rail vehicle(LRV),the traction motor usually runs on bad conditions.To solve these problems,this paper proposes the use of a fully enclosed induction motor as the traction motor,introduces the motors main structure,temperature emission and noise reduction.The test result shows that the fully enclosed induction motor could effectively solve temperature rise and noise problems according with IEC 60349—2.
