Distribution of Tiger in Shanxi Province in Ming and Qing Dynasties And Related Questions

Abstract

Shanxi province was once an important habitat of Huabei tigers.Based on historical records,this paper finds out that in Ming and Qing Dynasties 79 prefectures and counties of Shanxi witnessed distribution of tigers,of which 33 witnessed tiger attacking accidents.The reasons for tiger attacking should be analyzed in terms of human activities,natural disasters and tiger habits.The distribution of tiger attacking accidents alone can hardly clearly tell why tiger disappeared gradually in the history.
