Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the value of transrectal ultrasonography for patients with obstructive azoospermia (OA).Methods:66 azoospermic patients and 30 normal fertility males were included in this study. Of the 66 pafients, 34 were non-obstructive and 32 were obstructive(OA). All were subjected to transrectal ultrasonography. Results:Transrectal ultrasonography could show vivid images of prostate, seminal vesicle. The size of seminal vesicles in patients with OA was smaller than that in normal fertiles and patients with NOA (P0.05). There were no significant differences between NOA and the normal(P0.05).Conclusion:Transrectal ultrasonography is superior to seminal vasography in indicating extent of dilatation, level of obstruction and the relationship with prostates. It is helpful to distinguish location and reason of obstruction, and can be regarded as the first examination for male infertility diseases.
