Abstract
This paper describes an experiment concerning chlorine disinfection of raw water samples from the micro-polluted branches of Huangpu River in Shanghai in order to investigate the effect of permanganate addition for pre-oxidation in place of the conventional pre-chlorination. The effect of THMs control and phenol removal was studied, cost-effectiveness of the method evaluated as well.
