Abstract
Objective To investigate the association of physical activity with blood lipid levels in Guangzhou adults and provide scientific basis for rational exercise. Methods 40~65 years old Guangzhou residents were enrolled (555 cases). Plasma total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), HDL cholesterol (HDL) and LDL cholesterol (LDL) were measured with colorimetric methods using commercial kits by an automated analyzer. Physical activity and dietary intakes were assessed by questionnaire. Effects of physical activity on blood lipid levels were mainly assessed. Results After controlling for sex, age and BMI,ANOVA analysis showed that TC in higher total energy expenditure groups were significantly lower than lower groups(P0.05). TC and LDL in group of higher and middle exercise energy expenditure were significantly lower than the other groups(P0.05). TC in the middle and higher group of working energy expenditure were significantly lower than the lower groups(P0.05). Conclusions It will help to improve blood lipids through increasing physical activity. In the condition of mild to moderate working physical activity, increasing working energy expenditure could help to maintain blood lipids in the normal range.
