Early Clinical Observation on Acupoint Catgut Embedding in Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B with Normal Liver Function

Objective: To observe the early therapeutic efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding in treating chronic hepatitis B patients with normal liver function.Methods: Sixty chronic hepatitis B patients with normal liver function were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,with 30 cases in each group.The treatment group was treated by acupoint catgut embedding in bilateral Ganshu(BL 18) and Zusanli(ST 36) once two weeks,with a course of three months,and the control group was followed up once two weeks.The liver function,HBV-DNA,and IFNα were tested,and the clinical symptom scores were recorded.Results: After treatment,the symptom scores of patients in treatment group were decreased significantly compared with before treatment and control group(P0.01),the level of HBV-DNA of patients in treatment group was decreased obviously compared with before treatment and control group(P0.01,P0.05),the level of IFNα of patients in treatment group was increased markedly compared with before treatment and control group(P0.01).Conclusion: Acupoint catgut embedding therapy for chronic hepatitis B patients with normal liver function can inhibit the virus replication,promote the endogenous IFN production,and improve the clinical symptoms.
