A Study on Competitiveness of Services Sector in Jiangsu Province Based on Mahalanobis-Taguchi System

Abstract

Since Jiangsu Province is a region in China where the economic activities are very active,the development of its service sector is bound in future to become an important boost and support to its economic transformation.This paper attempts to establish an evaluation system on the basis of the current development situation of the service sector in Jiangsu Province and a thorough study of the service sector competitiveness model at home and abroad.With Shanghai as the standard space,the MTS(Mahalanobis-Taguchi System)method is applied to the analysis of service sector competitiveness in 13 cities of Jiangsu Province according to related statistical data from 2009 to 2011.It is found that imbalance and echelon formation characterize the competitiveness development of service sector.And some countermeasures and suggestions are proposed in this paper.
