Comparative Study on the Color of Xinjiang’s Emerald and Colombia’s Emerald

Abstract

By comparing the color indexes and chemical composition of Xingjiang emerald and Colombia emerald.We find that Xinjiang and Colombia emerald color indexes are similar,but contain of Cr2O3 is difference in chemical composition.Xinjiang’s contain of Cr2O3 generally within the range of 0.21%～0.54%,and Colombia emerald contain of Cr2O3 from 0.12～0.29%;The content of Fe in Xinjiang emerald is higher.This study has an important significance to Xinjiang emerald.
