Abstract
Authors introduces a developing system of muffler's design aided by computer. The exhaust silencer's insertion loss has been calculated through the three-dimensional model of automobile mufflers built by BEM. Considering the effect of each main structure parameters of silencer on eliminating noise, the parameters of the muffler structure could be optimized by orthogonal planning method according to the demands of noise's elimination; meanwhile, the Visual Basic for Application has been used to perform the further developing of AutoCAD in order to fulfill the data sharing between the performance calculating program and the structure drawing one in AutoCAD, so that the auto-drawing and modification of the muffler figure could be realized.
