Abstract
The Ecological Footprint(EF)is an important index to measure the sustainable development.EF analysis into urban ecosystem can quantify the pressure and effect of urban economic activities on natural ecosystems, which provide quantitative basic data for the sustainable development and rebuilding the resource economical and environment-friendly society in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration. This paper estimated that Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan's EF and per capita deficit of EF in 2007 are 1.473 8 hm2 and 0.816 2 hm2 respectively, and analyzed the trends of EF change during 2000~2007.It's necessary to improve the resource efficiency of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration, and to set up a resource-conserving and environment-friendly production and consumption system in order to achieve the sustainable development of the region.
