Contemporary Capitalist Society's Fundamental Characteristics

With contemporary capitalist society's development, some new development tendencies and characteristics have come into being. Study on the new tendencies and characteristics is the most important subject of the “Western Marxist” contemporary capitalist outlook. Western Marxists deem that the contemporary capitalism is a national capitalism which is different from non-monopoly capitalism and it enters a new capitalist era. This paper holds that great change takes place in the contemporary capitalism indeed and even partial qualitative change takes place in it. However, we can not confuse “partial qualitative change” with “basic qualitative change” and take the new phase of capitalism as a kind of all new social formation or a capitalist new form. It is an important task to insist and develope Marxism in the present era to seriously study and discuss the contemporary new capitalist development and change in theories.
