Popular Novels, Literary Classics and Knowledge Production ——The Construction of the "Jin Studies" from the Visual Threshold of Contemporary Chinese Literature

Novels by Jin Yong are undergoing change from popular novels in 1980’s to stage of classicalization since 1990’s. Some scholars have been eager to raise Jin’s works in category of popular novels to level of so-called Jinstudies. In spite of their long popularity and pleasure for readers, they are no equivalent to classics or cultural classics. Actually, what novels by Jin revealed to us is rare obtrusiveness of contemporary literary or cultural life, as well as unity of the times of text and the times of narration of texts.
