Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of improved bundle strategy in the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia. Methods Two hundred and nine patients of our hospital whose mechanical ventilation time was longer than five days were randomly divided into control group(n=94) and treatment group(n=115).The control group employed conventional treatment for the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia while the treatment group received additional improved bundle strategy. Two groups were compared in terms of ventilator-associated incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, mechanical ventilation time,ICU length of stay and sputum pathogen test results. Results The ventilator-associated pneumonia rate of the treatment group was significantly decreased compared with that of the control group.Mechanical ventilation time and ICU length of stay were significantly shorter than those of the control group. Conclusion The improved bundle strategy can be effective in the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia.
