A Comparative Study on Quetiapine and Clozapine's Effect and Safety Indexes on the Treating of Schizophrenia

Objective: to study the treatment result and safety indexes of Quatiapine and Clozapine on the treating of Schizophrenia.Method: The researchers at first group the 102 schizophrenia cases into 51Quetiapine cases and 51 clozapine cases at random.Then the charts of BPRS and TESS are used to assess the treatment results and safety indexes of Quetiapine and Clozapine after 2,4,6,8 weeks treatment respectively.Results: After 8 weeks' treatment,the results of Clozapine are far more favorable than those of Quetiapine (45% to 22%,χ~2=6.353,Р=0.012).However,the negative influence to cardiograph of Clozapine is strikingly greater than that of Quetiapine(χ~2=7.351,P=0.007).Both the Quetiapine and Clozapine cases have unfavorable influences to liver function,whose differences have no statistical significance.Other side-effects of Clozapine are far greater than those of Quetiapine(χ~2=6.353,Р=0.012).Conclusion: The treatment effect of Clozapine on schizophrenia is better than that of Quetiapine.However,Clozapine has more side-effects. Quetiapine has greater safety indexes.
