Abstract
This paper discusses the thought and key points of realizing 3D parametric design by API as a secondary development method based on SolidWorks. The process of secondary development is discussed in detail in Visual Basic by an example of gear design. It's helpful to improve the design efficiency of standardized and serialized products for engineers who engage in 3D parametric design.
