Abstract
Modern American literature of chinese origin shows its origin in Chinese culture in its adoption of Chinese myths and folklores,and contact and tanglement between American and Chinese.Through direct translation or adaptation of Chinese myths and folklores,Chinese American writers insert cultural images in English narration.This insertion enlarges the symbolic meanings of the cultural images in modern american literature of chinese origin and reveals their cultural identity as well as the complex and dynamic integrity of Chinese and western contexts.
