Abstract
The 722 soil samples from Fujian tobacco growing areas were analysed. The results were as follows: pH 5.04, organic matter 28.93 g·kg -1 , physical clay (0.01 mm) 33%, total N 1.446 g·kg -1 , hydrolytic N 141.9 mg·kg -1 , total P 0.482 g·kg -1 , available P 20.5 mg·kg -1 , total K 20.89 g·kg -1 , available K 122 mg·kg -1 , slow releasing K 294 mg·kg -1 , exchangeable Ca 599.3 mg·kg -1 , exchangeable Mg 29.53 mg·kg -1 , available S 26.8 mg·kg -1 , available Cu 2.11 mg·kg -1 , available B 0.242 mg·kg -1 , water soluble Cl 14.7 mg·kg -1 . Because of low pH in a great majority of the soil in tobacco growing areas, adjustment of soil acidity, rational application of N and P, reduction of soil fixing, fertilization of K and increasing magnesium and boron should be well done. While lime is applied to adjust soil acidity, tobacco absorption of magnesium and boron should not be hindered.
