Abstract

We had made investigation on insect microsporidia resources in Guangdong Province, and done some experiments of microsporidia cross infection among some insects to reveal from where the new silkworm microsporidia came. 8 microsporidia, isolated from the silkworm, Bombyx mori, were different from Nosema bombycis. 389 kinds of insects were investigated through microcopy, of which 51 kinds were infected with microsporidia. Among them, 28 kinds of microsporidia can infect silkworm by oral transmission, 18 kinds can transvarian transmission to progeny. Cross infection test revealed that 9 microsporidia isolated insects can infect other 5 kinds of insects. The result showed that the cross infection among insects were very complex.
