Abstract

Nine plant species were collected from west of Hunan, and were tested for antifungal activity. The plants were dried, ground and then extracted with methanol. The dry extracts were tested for inhibition of mycelial radial growth on PDA plates containing the plant methanol extracts. The final tested concentration of all plant methanol extracts was 0.01g/mL.The tested plant pathogenic fungi were:Peronophthora litchii,Magnaporthe grisea, andColletotrichum musae. The results showed that the inhibitory rate in methanol extract ofSalvia pleseiantoP.litchiwas 84.16%,and that toM.griseaandC.musaealso reached 74.86% and 64.84%,respectively.The methanol extract ofPachyrhizus erosusexhibited a higher inhibitory activity a-gainstM.grisea(the inhibitory rate was 90.41%),followed byS.pleseian(the inhibitory rate was 74.86%) andEuphorsia helioscopia(the inhibitory rate was 66.32%).
