Abstract
Rainproof and water controlling experiments is conducted to research on response of flue-cured tobacco growth and chemical quality to water stress. The result indicated that, during each stage of flue-cured tobacco growth, the height and leaf area of tobacco increases obviously along with the elevation of the soil relative water content. The soil is dry or the water is excessive, the root system volume, the root system surface area and the root system vigor will all drop. The most suitable relative water of soil for the resettling stage, vigorous growing stage, budding stage and mature stage is 65%,80%,80%,65%,respectively.In the mature period of flue-cured tobacco, protein in the middle and the upside leaf, the smoke alkali and the total nitrogen increases along with the increasing of water processing treatment, whereas the total sugar and the reducing sugar will reduce. Moreover, when the soil is drought,it reduces much more than that the water is excessive, which causes the quality of tobacco leaf to reduce; The sugar alkali,NIT/NIC and SUR/NIT of flue-cured tobacco is more reasonable when it is processed by mild drought(65% processed).
