Review of the Prescriptions in the Outpatient and Emergency Departments of Our Hospital in 2007

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the writing quality of prescriptions in outpatient and emergency departments of our hospital and to investigate the rationality of drug use.METHODS: In this retrospective study,A total of(12 390) prescriptions in outpatient and emergency departments in 2007 were randomly sampled for statistical analysis.RESULTS: Most of the drugs were used singly or in combination of 2 kinds;most of the antibiotics were used singly;most of the injections were administered intravenously.525(4.24%) prescriptions were nonstandard in writing and 552(4.46%) were irrational in drug use.CONCLUSION: The prescription writing and drug use in the outpatient and emergency departments of our hospital were rational basically,yet some problems still existed in a few of them.Therefore,it is urgent for medical staff to strengthen their responsibility and learning and for pharmacists to bring into full play of their ability in checking prescriptions to improve prescription quality and rational drug use level.
