Abstract

Effects of different medias, cutting positions and auxin indolebutyric acid(IBA) solutions with different concentrations on the rooting of semi-hardwood cuttings of Rosa chinensis 'yueyuehong' were investigated by the method of cutting propagation. The results suggested, rooting percentage, root number and root length were enhanced when cuttings were treated with IBA of different concentrations in a 0.03% solution of potassium hydroxide, the better rooting effects were found with 500 μg/mL in sand media. In two rooting media, rooting percentage, root number and root length appeared to be improved if cuttings were planted in sand alone as compared with sand:clay.Basal cuttings gave a better rooting response than apical and medial cuttings. It was found that the interaction between media and IBA concentration could enhance rooting percentage, root number and root length, the interaction between media and cutting position could enhance root number but not rooting percentage or root length. The best treatment for Rosa chinensis 'yueyuehong' cuttings rooting was basal cuttings, sand media and 500 μg/mL IBA.
