Abstract

The effect of various activated carbon,pH value and salt content on the adsorption of organics from pretreated atrazine wastewater is investigated. Adsorption isotherm and regeneration properties of activated carbon are also studied. The results show that powder wooden activated carbon favors the removal of pesticide wastewater at pH 3. The adsorption capacity of activated carbon increases with the increase of salt content. The adsorption isotherm data fit with the Freundlich model better than Langmuir model, with the maximum adsorption capacity of 250 mg /g at pH value of 3. Organics adsorbed on activated carbon can be removed in alkali solution, and higher than98% of adsorption capacity is regenerated in comparison to fresh activated carbon.
