On Cultural Differences and Implications between Chinese and English Names

People can perceive a society and culture through names in various aspects. English and Chinese names are treated not only as a sign system for identification but as a social and cultural phenomenon which reflects the similarities and differences between the oriental and western nations. This paper attempts to deal with cultural differences and implications reflected through Chinese and English names so as to improve communication and mutual understanding.
