Abstract
Water mist has become one of the most potential replacements of Halon with high efficiency and friendly environment compatibility. A high-pressure single-fluid water mist fire protection system is successfully developed in the State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission and Control. The spray parameters are measured with the Phase Doppler Particle Anemometer (PDPA) system. Some fire extinguishing tests are carried out according to the related standards. The results show that the mist clouds sprayed from the water mist fire protection system belong to the finest group, which can put out a fire quickly and effectively with good electrical insulation and capability of long hanging in space.
