Abstract

In order to increase the safety of tobacco products, and to control or decrease cadmium content in tobacco leaves, the accumulation and distribution of cadmium in flue-cured tobacco were studied by using pot experiment and lab analysis. The results showed that,Cd content was lower both in root and stem of flue-cured tobacco, but it was high in leaves, more than 80% of Cd was found in leaves.Because Cd has high migrantion and flue-cured tobacco is insensitive to Cd,the flue-cured tobacco should be planted in soils with low Cd to prevent Cd accumulation in tobacco leaves and hurt smokers.
