Family Discipline and Value Conception of Ancient Family Education

Abstract

Family discipline in China can be traced back to the Western Zhou Dynasty. It grew mature in the Sui and Tang Dynasties and was perfected in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which contained both the appositive and the negative spirits of China's ancient family education. The present paper gives a detailed analysis of the two aspects and points out that the overwhelming value orientation of the ancient family discipline has been the federal moral principles in family education.
