Abstract
Objective:To evaluate left ventricular systolic and diastolic function in patients with hypertension by acoustic quantification(AQ)technique.Methods:51patients with hypertension and20control subjects were studied by AQ technique. The hypertension group was divided into three sub-groups by left ventricular mass index and relative wall thickness:normal left ventricular geometry,con-centric remolding and concentric hypertrophy subgroup. Results:Compared with control subjects,pa-tients in normal left ventricular geometry subgroup had normal left ventricular diastolic function, but left ventricular systolic function increased.Left ventricular diastolic function significantly decreased in patients of concentric remolding subgroup, but diastolic function was normal. Both left ventricular diastolic and systolic functions were greatly lower in patients of concentric hypertrophy subgroup. Conclusion:Patients with difference geometry hypertension had different left ventricular function.
