Abstract
Objective:To discuss the formation of the juxtapapillary duodenal diverticulum.Methods:100 cadaveric specimens including duodenum and pancreas were selected and detected.Amatomic features, such as descending duodenum, pancreaticobiliary junction and pancreas tissue at the left pancreaticobiliary junction where it reached the duodenum, were dissected and observed on 26 specimens occured juxtapapillary duodenal diverticulum, and followed by anatomic comparison with that of normal specimens. Results:For those specimens with or without diverticulum, the perimeters of duodenum at the level of major duodenal papilla were(110±13.4) and(88.4±8.61) mm,while at the level of inferior duodenal flexure(73.3±5.52) and(83.2± 6.01)mm respectively. The perimeters of the pancreaticobiliary junction reached duodenum were(22.4±1.72) and(16.8±1.32) mm,while the thickness of the pancreas tissue in front of pancreaticobiliary junction were(4.33 ±0.82) and(9.13 ±2.24)mm respectively. Conclusions:Some anantomic features, such as the narrow perimeter of inferior flexure of duodenu, the thick pancreaticobiliary junction, and the absence of pancreas tissue at the junction site maybe the reasons for occurring of juxtapapillary duodenal diverticulum
