The Development Characteristic, Trend and Planning of Suburban Villages in Guangzhou City——A Case Study of Chicao Village in Conghua City

China is a vast agricultural country, which has experienced 30 years of urban construction peak. The rapid development of urban economy accelerates the expansion of urban space. Urban construction has huge impacts on the suburban village, and the commercial and residential facilities form a sharp contrast with those of the adjacent villages, and thus it is quite urgent to solve problems of rural development. This paper summarizes the village planning process of Guangzhou, and analyzes the characteristics of the villages, the content of the village planning and design work and the developing trend of suburban village in the process of the urbanization of Guangzhou. Having drawn lessons from foreign experience of rural construction and combined with the case study of Chicao Village in Conghua City, the paper studies the problems in the planning of suburban village, and puts forward some recommendations, hoping to provide references for the village planning and construction implementation.
