The correlation between the expression of KAI1 and prognosis of patients with gastric adenocarcinoma

Objective To investigate the expression of KAI1 in gastric adenocarcinoma,and to explore the correlation between KAI1 and clinical pathological characteristics as well as prognosis.Methods The expression of KAI1 was detected by S-P immunohistochemical(IHC) staining in ESCC.Results Among the 81 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma,the positive expression rate of KAI1 was 55.6%(45/81).KAI1 expression was not correlated with age,gender,length of tumor and depth of tumor invasion(P0.05),but which was related with the metastasis of lymph node,tumor differentiation and clinical stage(P0.05).The five-year survival rate of patients with positive expression of KAI1 was significantly higher than that of patients with negative expression(55.5% vs 22.2%,P0.05).KAI1 expression in well-differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma was higher than poorly-differentiated one.There was a significant negative correlation between KAI1 expression and clinical stage(r=-0.38,P0.01).Univariate analysis of Cox model showed that the expression of KAI1 had obvious effect on the prognostic of patients with gastric adenocarcinoma(P0.05),but which was not the independent prognostic indicator showed by multiplicity of Cox model(P0.05).Conclusion KAI1 expression is related with metastasis of lymph node,tumor differentiation and clinical stage.The positive expression of KAI1 suggests that patients'survival rate is higher,and which can be used as a reference index of ESCC.
