Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlated factors and preventive measures for postpartum hemorrhage in order to reduce the maternal mortality. Methods The clinical data of 89 patients with postpartum hemorrhage treated in this department during March 2007 to June 2007 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. Results In 75.28% (67/89) of 67 cases, postpartum hemorrhage in was happened within two hours after delivery. Lower incidence rate was usually seen in those women with gestational age ranged from 37 to 40 and fetal weight from 2500g to 4000g, and their incidence rates were 6.46%(40/619) and 6.38%(54/847)respectively. The incidence rate was significantly increased with labors over 3 times, twins and cesarean section, and their incidence rates were 31.25%(5/16), 44.44%(4/9)and 74.19%(23/31)respectively.Conclusion Gestational age, fetal weight, delivery pattern, abortion history, mental factors etc are closely related to the occurrence of postpartum hemorrhage.
