Abstract

Palmitic acid-2-hydroxy-3-sulfonic acid sodium propyl ester was prepared with the palmitic acid as starting materials by means of sulphonation、Saponification and esterification.optimum reaction conditions of experiment was investigated.The optimum reaction conditions of 3-chloro-2-hydroxy sulfonate were n(propylene oxide)∶n(sodium bisulfite)=0.87∶1,reaction temperature 85 ℃.Reaction time 3.5 h.,Conversion ratio of the product was 80.4%.The optimum reaction conditions of sodium palmitate were n(palustric acid)∶n(sodium hydroxide)=1∶1,reaction temperature 85 ℃.Reaction time 4.5 h,conversion ratio of the product was 83%.Palmitic acid-2-hydroxy-3-sulfonic acid sodium propyl ester was obtained under optimum conditions of n(3-chloro-2-hydroxy sulfonate)∶ n(sodium palmitate)=1.1∶1,reaction temperature 65 ℃,reaction time 6.5 h,conversion ratio of the product was 86.82%.The structures of product were characterized by FTIR,and its surface properties were studied: such as surface tension,remissibility and so on.The surfactant product shows good surface activity as well as rather good emulsifying power,foaming properties and so on.
