Abstract

There are two remarkable characteristics in the rational view of Mao Zedong: firstly, his rational concept is not confined to the practice domain but to the cognitive domain;secondly,it does not make a further distinction between intellectuality and rationality in his reason. There is a succession in the rational outlook from the Chinese traditional philosophy to the rational view of Mao Zedong. As the distinction between intellectuality and rationality marks the difference between traditional philosophy and modern philosophy, natural materialism and historical materialism, metaphysics and dialectics,it is a prerequisite not only for the Chinese characteristics of Marxist philosophy, but also for the modernization of Chinese philosophy.
