Abstract

A numerical simulation model of reinforced soil retaining wall was established. The dynamic response law of reinforced soil retaining wall and the effect of strong ground motion parameters on its seismic response in earthquake were researched. The results showed that the anti-deformation properties of reinforced soil and its filtering effect on seismic waves with higher frequency were better than pure soil, but the amplification effect of reinforced soil on seismic waves with lower frequency was lower than that of pure soil.It was indicated that the amplification coefficient of peak acceleration of soil retaining wall decreased with the increase of amplitudes and frequencies of earthquakes, while peak acceleration response was less affected by the duration of seismic wave.It was also indicated that the maximum displacement of reinforced soil retaining wall increased with the increase of amplitudes and duration of seismic wave, while decreased with the increase of frequency of seismic wave. The conclusions were helpful to further research on the instability mechanism of reinforced soil retaining wall in earthquakes.
