Abstract

This paper analyzes a basic model of the slider movement on non-smooth plane, which is the movement of a small slider sliding from inclined plane to horizontal plane. Through experiment and theoretical analysis, we found that a completely inelastic oblique collision happens between the slider and the horizontal plane. Accordingly, the distance of the small slider sliding on the horizontal plane L = H/m(1 - m cotθ), which is derived from the classical solving method, is wrong, and it should be.L= H/m(1-mcotθ)cos~2θ.
