Discourse Analysis For“The Last Of The Waiting”By Interpersonal Metafunction

Abstract

Halliday constructed the Systemic Functional Grammar “for purposes of text analysis”.There are few papers using the Systemic Functional Grammar to analyze poems in China.This paper attempts to study the lyric “The Last of the Waiting” from the perspectives of interpersonal metafunction in Systemic Functional Grammar,with the intentions of checking up the practicability and applicability of the Systemic Functional Grammar in literary text analysis and finding out some discourse characteristics of lyrics and the personality and mentality of the character.
