Clinical study on iris diaphra-gm intraocular lens implantation in management of traumatic cataract with aniridia

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of iris diaphragm intraocular lens implantation in the management of traumatic cataract with partial or complete aniridia.Methods Eighteen cases (18 eyes) of diaphragm intraocular lens implantation were retrospectively analyzed,among which total aniridia was observed in 8 eyes and partial aniridia in 10 eyes;Four eyes had undergone primary intraocular lens implantation and 14 eyes had undergone secondary intraocular lens implantation.The preoperative and postoperative visual acuity and surgical complications were checked respectively.Results The postoperative visual acuity were 0.8 in 2 eyes,0.5～0.8 in 6 eyes and 0.1～0.4 in 10 eyes.Among 14 eyes with photophobia,the symptom was disappeared in 12 eyes,decreased obviously in 2 eyes.The surgical complications included ciliary body bleeding during operation in 2 eyes,hapitc rupture during lens insertion 1 eye,transient postoperative corneal edema in 7 eyes,postoperative hyphema in 2 eyes,vitreous hemorrhage in 1 eye,secondary glaucoma in 2 eyes,which resolved.Conclusion Diaphragm intraocular lens implantation in the management of traumatic cataract with aniridia was effective and safe.
