Abstract
A novel kind of zwitterionic Gemini surfactant, sodium 1,4-butanediol bisulfosuccinate hydroxypropropyl quaternary ammoniun diester (HDBC), was synthesized with 1,4-butanediol, maleic anhydride, Epichlorohydrin and hexadecyldimethyl ammonium. The structure of this Gemini surfactant was confirmed by IR spectrum and MS. The lowest surface tension of HDBC is 25.92 mN·m-1, and its critical micelle concentration (CMC) is 0.01 g·L-1. The foaming and emulsification properties and lime soap dispersing power of the prepared surfactant were also studied.
