Abstract
Careful consideration should be given to the problemof the deterioration of the material properties.Actually,aclose relationship between the durability,safety,and serviceability exits.The ti me-depended reliability and durability ofstructures are deeply discussed in this paper.The safety and serviceability are two basic classifications of the reliability.The durability,which belongs to either the serviceability or the safety,is a special issue relating to the deterioration of thematerial properties.The durability could be analyzed and controlled either fromthe aspect of the structural state or fromthe aspect of the ti me,and the results obtained with both methods are same in quantity.These conclusions are greatmeaningful for present study on the durability and reliability of structures.
